One of the shorter buildings on my
schedule is Franklin Towers, the tallest building in Maine. Located at 211
Cumberland Avenue in Portland, the building is 175 feet tall and has 16 floors.
Construction began in 1967 and was completed in 1969. It is a brick high rise
designed in modernist architecture by Leasure, Tuttle & Lee.
Franklin Towers is primarily a residential building.
Portland Housing Authority provides residency to seniors, disabled persons, and
low income individuals. Residents pay a rent equal to 30% of their adjusted
income.
