Why I Climb Buildings

There are the obvious reasons why I am taking on this challenge....Exercise, Feeling of Accomplishment and Fun.

Then there is a deeper motivation, a motivation that keeps me going hard for a couple extra flights, motivates me to run an extra mile at the gym when I am already exhausted.

That someone is my sweet little niece Whitney Anderson who was born with Cerebral Palsy. My sister Stephanie nearly died giving birth to Whitney and it is a true miracle they are both alive.

I am dedicating this quest to climb the tallest building in each state to Whitney. She has the sweetest smile and spirit despite being unable to walk or talk. My official color of this site and my running gear through this quest will be Orange to represent and remind me of Whitney.

Here is a little video I made a couple of years ago with pictures of her first year of life.

  1. I stumbled onto your site while helping my child with a homework assignment (we found the answer on your site). What an amazing story! What a lift in my day!

    1. Awesome! Thank you for sharing your comment. YOU made my day!

  2. That's awesome Dan - love it! Thanks for sharing and good luck in your quest. You have a great heart.

  3. I think it's awesome how you take the time to run up the stairs and actually have the mindset to go against the norm. I've started to bike to my new high school when I realized that I had the option of sitting on the bus or biking to school. I choose to bike to school and everyday it keeps me motivated, refreshed and awake. I'm sure you felt the same way after your runs. Now that you get to travel the world a lot I hope you maybe make some videos about it. Btw love your YouTube channel! Keep it up!
